Rod Thanks for the comment's , yes its a good way to keep a few people up to date .
In other news .
As some of you know access to this piece of paradise is limited to a track through the neighbours paddock ,That he wants to keep privet and not allow it to become registered as an access track ,so it gets locked for a few weeks each year . This is fine by us, as in the heavy wet season we leave our car out on high ground and walk in & out anyway . This neighbor owns an earthmoving business and has a barge that he sits his excavator on and dredges the ferry crossing with .
And here's one that I took on the weekend .
Now you will notice that there is a large mound of dirt in the background of this pic, This is a house pad .The Neighbour "Chris" just dug up a hill over the road and trucked it over here , The Idea is that it can settle for a year or two then maybe build . The pad is up as high as our eves about 6m and about 8m above the river on a normal tide . This place has been here about 28 years and has had a few floods but the flood of "96 was over the eves of this place , they say that that was a 1 in 100 year flood ,however going back though the river heights there has been 3 events of approximately that height so I don't think any council in its right mind would approve a building out on the river bank in a flood zone in this day and age . Chris has the block on the market and from time to time people come out to look we've spoken to a couple of them now and as soon as you mention that the water was up THERE they say thankyou and leave .
Here is a view back our way from up on the pad .
You will have noticed that Chris's barge is also in the latest round of pics . This was skull draged up out of the river.
First atempt .
This diden't go quite as planed and reinforcements were needed.
The extra power and traction was just enough when the tide came back in in the arvo . So now it sits at the top of the boat ramp . Chris had wanted to go further with it but he hasent got big enough toys to move it any more . this might come in handy as the waters rise this season , a good sopt for the mowers and things that wont fit up the stairs .... At present the barge is tied to a one ton concreat block I hope its enough or it will come down and bump into our house if it starts to drag or break anchor., hes said to drive it if there is any probs but we will be busy with our own stuff come flood days. .
