Bloody phone

Hello there, well so much for keeping upto date with this blog. Our phone went out on the 9th of march, telstra dident come to fix it till the 24th and since then it only works somtimes. In that time we have had a flood and a cyclone. The river flooded on monday the 13th. Sunday arvo the waters started to come up above what the tide was so we got cars out and moved a few of the heavy things with a long night on watch and continuing rain the water reached the cement downstairs at 05:20 monday morning mad rush to get the rest of the stuff upstairs, I moved pumps at 03:00. the waters peaked @ 1.66m over our downstairs floor. @ around 13:30, then just sat around went down a bit then rose back to almost the same over monday night and fell away tuesday . So the clean up started as reports of a cyclone brewing began to be reported on the radio , yes back listening to AUNTY with out phone or www, so as the weekend came it looked like the north was going to get it. Monday Larry came to Inisfail and destroyed 50 % of housing a small comunity just south of Inisfail , Silkwood has 99% damage . an amazing storm if Larry was 100km north cairns would not be here and there would definly have beed deaths. Up here we got a bit of a blow not much maybe 35knts for a few hours. so the cleanup here continues all the mud is washed out of the rooms downstairs and its time to move a few things back downstairs. hopefuly the phone will stay conected now ...

The rain , March 1117.5mm
YTD 2671.5mm
more blog later with a few pics when I sort them out ...
