Well what a buzy 2 weeks or so its been. Big Paulo came up from Taree and got aquainted with life in the far north and an endless wet season, unfortunately it was just a slosh pit with ankle deep mud wherever you walked. We did get out in the boat to have a tour of the river and a sticky beak at the village and it’s locals in full swing. Jo felt unwell for Pauls last day or so and decided to rest while Shani and I took him to Cairns on the Saturday to catch the plane , on our return she wanted to go to the hospital. So in we go get the usual packet of antibiotics and come back if no better or dead…
Sunday morning : in we go again Jo is much worse spent most of night with high fever and hugh head aches. 5hrs later they decide to admit her. Jo spent the next 3 nights in and was discharged on wednessday arvo at 16:00 . At this stage we still don’t know what it was that got her, we do know that its not Ross River, Barmah Forest, Dengue fevers or Leptosporossis . My feeling is that its Malaria. I remember the smell from when I had it in Mozambique and Zimbabwe . So now on Saturday Arvo a week later Jo is feeling much better but is still weak and needs to rest, and continue with lots of fluids and good healthy feeds. We went for a little run in the boat this morning and had a few bites but no fish landed, Jo did land a river mussel tho so that counts as something…

We had 88mm yesterday and 9 mm this morning and May’s total is now at 161mm taking us just shy of 4.3m so far this year…
