Sunday again

So friday was a quick trip to Cairns to get 200m of new rope for the pontoon, and afew things for the birthday girl this week. That went well and I was home again befor heavy rain set in in Cairns friday arvo (100+ mm) . I managed to get a heap of mowing done so things look good for this week...

Saturday only 3mm in the gauge and today is launch day for the pontoon . In a clear break on thursday arvo I loaded the gangway on to the pontoon & towed it back to the boat ramp Ready for the big tides this weekend . The top of our boat ramp is just at the start of the mangroves that form our north eastern boundry and with the big tides the river comes up onto the grass, making it ezyer to push the pontoon out .
Not knowing how all this planning was going to work out, I lashed a couple of drums to the gangway so if anything did go wrong I should be able to salvage all my efforts. (This proved totaly unnecessary) So with the pontoon waiting and the tide settling out it was go time .
Yes that Shani driving our boat , Towing me out into the river .
Shani is getting very good with handling the boat .Off we go up river, now the next bit is to bring the overhanging end up to the walk way on the bank and lash it there...

Then slowly walk the pontoon out to the end of the gangway ...Now to spin it around so it sits in the flow of the river ,All this went great and its now sitting there as it should be . you probly noticed that only one side was painted thats the riverside just dident get good enought weather to do the other side. The next things are work on the walkway on the bank some of the timbers need replacing and ofcorse I need to put new treads on the gangway, but we can use it carefully now and the little bits will follow ...

Shani will be 11 on tuesday shes realy growing up, here she is starting the boat after I set her free in the river, She brought the boat back no worries ... Very pissed off at me but no worries ...

So Sunday morning brings us with light rain. TC Jim has gone east for now . the monsoon trough is right over us and the the convergance could give us some more good falls. only 2 days left in Jan and we only need about 140mm to get a meter for the month ... mmmmm wait and see...this morninghs Obbs

Humidity = 96%

Temp = 24.8*c

Dew Point = 24.0*c

Just a few adjustments to make with the ropes on the pontoon, but all is well .....
