Busy wet week
wow here it is thursday allready.. I've been doing a bit of roofing with a plumber friend this week, hes flat out and needed an extra hand so in to town and up on the roof its been, dodging rain as best we could. Tuesday we had a huge storm at home and in town not much at all as we came home we could see that there had been lots of water. 156mm in 3 1/2 hrs then another 56mm over night gave us 212mm for wednessday and this morning the rain has set in with 82mm
April is up to 540.5mm
YTD 3403mm and the radar is all blue ...the river is comeing up slowly this morning but I dont think we will see a flood or not one that crosses the floor downstairs any way..
Jo's hours have been down the last week or so as there are no tourist around but she went Rambutan picking a couple of days and next week starts a new roster a the cafe. I still wait for dry weather to paint downstairs and build the cattle yard next door. next week I should be able to start welding gates up in the shed but its the outside work that needs to be done..cant dig post holes in liquid...
The barge from next door has been put back in the river to do a bit more dredging under the ferry as its been stuck lots of times since the flood. the weekend befor last there was a car roll on the beach @ Cape Kimbly after midnight so they opened the ferry put the police , ambulance and fire truck on and got about 1/3 of the way across and sat there stuck for the next 45mins while the pasanger was stuck in the rolled over car, in the end they sent a chopper from cairns to sort it out...and last weekend our plumber friend had his 40th party and there was about 15 or more cars from town with his friend stuck on the ferry for 1 1/2 hrs not a bad thing tho as the early ones and us from this side got the best of the finger food , lobster balls , prawn cutlets , fish bites ect ect wow what a feast this was folowed with pig on the spit and crumbed fish there was all so a box of plain prawns on ice to munch on ...it was a very good night ...
Shani slept over at a friends place last night and they are soposed to be going to Cairns today to see the new Iceage movie , will ring and see if that is still on a bit later they may decide to postpone it to next week with all this rain....
